The 2012 Shada will celebrate its 19th year of hosting 3 on 3 basketball in Northwestern Minnesota. In those 19 years the Shada has grown in popularity and now feels it has bragging rights to being the longest lasting "big time" 3 on 3 basketball tournament in Upper part of Minnesota and Eastern North Dakota. How much fun can a player have in one weekend in June? Well think about this. . . In one weekend the Shada hosts over 500 games, played by over 700 players, who are competing in 20 different divisions. . . Now that is what we call HOOPS HEAVEN! The reason for this success is simple. . . the Shada provides a fun and competitive basketball experience for its participants. The community of Pelican Rapids becomes a bustling basketball "mecca" as teams from across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin make their basketball journey to the lakes area. The first day of the Shada, Friday, June 8th, is set aside for the elementary divisions. Games begin around 12:00 P.M. and the tournaments winds down with championship games ending at ten that night. The elementary division is for players just finishing 3rd through 6th grade with each grade level having its own division. On Saturday and Sunday (June 9 & 10) the Shada opens the doors of the Pelican Rapids' gymnasiums for divisions starting with seventh graders going up through varsity level and then on to post high, college and 35+ divisions. Saturday's games are set up to establish "the team to beat" as teams compete in a round robin-pool play. The top eight teams in each division will be seeded and will advance to "Championship Sunday" where they will compete in a single elimination tournament in their quest to bring home the division championship.You can click on the registration page on the left and it will send you to a page in which you can print off a registration form and mail that in with your team's information. The slogan for Shada is "Jammin' in June" and if past Shadas are any indication of the action that you will see, you can be assured that you will be watching some fast paced and exciting basketball. We encourage fans of the game to come on down and catch the action. Plenty of seating is available and there will be enough concessions to keep you satisfied the whole day! |
